Before the accident Rod bowed out and then it was going to be a trio and we were going to get somebody else. It wasn’t going to be Back, Bogert & Appice, it was going to be a band called Cactus with Rod Stewart singing. We rehearsed at our manager’s rehearsal place, and just worked out all the stuff for the first album, it was very easy. Jim McCarty was found through a friend of ours, Duane Hitchings, he was playing with the Buddy Miles Express and he played with Mitch Ryder so he was a definite candidate for Cactus and once we got Jimmy, he suggested Rusty who was with the Amboy Dukes. And we loved it, we loved playing with Cactus. It was an awesome band, it was hard rocking, very fast band. Jeff got in car accident in 1969 and had to take a year and a half off, me and Tim didn’t want to wait around so we put together our own band called Cactus with Jim McCarty and Rusty Day. But in those days it was cool and hip to break up, you had Blind Faith break up, made a super group, so, that’s what our plan was. We actually should have just gone on and done a solo thing and come back to the Fudge. So probably blame it on me and Tim Bogert. The band broke up because when Tim and I wanted to play some rocking kind of music with some more guitar, we were planning on putting a band together with Jeff Beck, so that’s pretty much why we broke up, you know, we’d been together for like four years and we were just ready to move on to something different. Appice: “Yes we got tight pretty quick, Tim and I, we both liked the same kind of music, r’n’b, James Brown, Motown, all of that, so yes we got right pretty quick. I used to throw my sticks around and beat the heck out of the drums and all that stuff”.Īfter the break up of Vanilla Fudge, Appice and Bogert had intended to work with Jeff Beck, but that project was put on hold due to a car accident putting Back out of action for a while. So I just started using the jazz Big Band tuning that my drum teacher taught me, so it was intentional but it wasn’t intentional, it was more accidental.I was playing loud and heavy because I couldn’t be heard with the amplification being used. When I interviewed him for Record Collector Magazine a few moons ago, he said of his style: “I grew up playing jazz, and I played rock also. This set collects those four albums, three of which have bonus tracks, and two live shows, each spread over two discs each.Īppice is considered the father of heavy metal drumming, influencing many. They signed to Atco and released four albums before splitting. In fact, many would argue that Cactus should have made the band as big as Led Zeppelin.CACTUS Evil Is Going On: The Atco albums 1970-1972 (8CD box) Cherry RedĪnother box that does what is says on the tin – and done wonderfully it is too.Ĭactus were an American hard rock band with heavy blues leanings, formed in 1969 by drummer Carmine Appice and bassist Tim Bogert, both formerly of Vanilla Fudge. The entire album has a dirty, loose-limbed, live-in-the-studio feel, and it could be the best example of early-’70s, go-for-broke rock ’n’ roll you likely ever hear. The band ignite a billowing fire on the blues classic “Parchment Farm,” then burn down Willie Dixon’s “You Can’t Judge a Book by Its Cover” and refuse to put out the flames until the last scream on the strutting finale “Feels So Good.” In between, there’s a moment of tenderness (“My Lady from South of Detroit”) and some biker-ready rock ’n’ roll (“Let Me Swim”) that taught Guns N’ Roses a lesson or two. Besides drumming legend Carmine Appice, bassist Tim Bogart (both from Vanilla Fudge), and ex–Amboy Duke shouter Rusty Day (who could howl better than any other white guy weaned on Delta blues), this self-titled 1970 debut album boasted godhead guitar shredder Jimmy McCarty (Mitch Ryder & The Detroit Wheels, Buddy Miles Express). For a bunch of proto-metal stoner pioneers, Cactus never got their due, even as a supergroup. However, it's important to note that affordability can become a concern for some buyers as prices continue to rise. While the rate of price appreciation may vary from year to year, the overall trend remains positive. This variety in housing choices allows for a broader pool of potential buyers, contributing to the overall price appreciation. From luxury beachfront properties to cozy suburban homes, the city offers something for everyone. This investor interest further fuels price growth in the region.įurthermore, the diverse range of housing options available in San Diego caters to different buyer preferences. Investors recognize the city's potential for long-term appreciation and are willing to pay a premium for properties in this sought-after market. This supply-demand imbalance gives sellers an advantage, allowing them to command higher prices for their properties.ĭo you own a home now and want to see the best refinance home loans?Īnother contributing factor is the desirability of San Diego as a prime location for real estate investment. The supply of available homes struggles to keep pace with the demand, leading to increased competition among buyers. As a result, both local and out-of-state buyers are drawn to the area, creating a competitive market environment.Īdditionally, San Diego's limited housing inventory plays a significant role in driving up prices. The city offers an exceptional quality of life, with a pleasant climate, diverse neighborhoods, and a strong job market. One of the driving factors behind the sustained price appreciation is the high demand for homes in San Diego. Home prices in this coastal city have been on an upward trajectory, and the forecast suggests that this trend is set to continue. However, San Diego's coastal location and vibrant urban amenities will continue to attract those craving a bustling city lifestyle and close proximity to job opportunities. With remote work becoming more prevalent, some individuals are seeking larger homes or properties in suburban areas. Moreover, the preferences of buyers are shifting in response to changing lifestyles. This could impact affordability for some buyers, potentially leading to a slight slowdown in market activity. While they have remained relatively low in recent times, there is a possibility of gradual increases in the coming years. See the best San Diego purchase home loansĪnother significant aspect to consider is the impact of interest rates. The limited inventory, coupled with strong demand, will inevitably create a competitive environment among buyers, leading to increased prices and a fast-paced market. The supply of available housing in San Diego is experiencing a shortage, and this scarcity is projected to persist in the near future. However, the market is not without its challenges. While the rate of appreciation might moderate compared to previous years, there is still ample room for property values to climb higher. San Diego has a history of robust growth, and this trend is expected to persist. One of the key factors driving the market is the anticipated price appreciation. This vibrant Southern California city continues to shine as a desirable destination, and its real estate market reflects that allure. The San Diego real estate market is poised to captivate both investors and homebuyers alike with its promising forecast. Windows - uninstalling and reinstalling will not affect your saved artwork. Tldr buy the S95B now if you don‘t care about the exhausting process of initially setting up everything correctly, blocking updates on router level and a high chance of having to deal with customer support in case of defaults. I got my panel replaced once and haven‘t had any issues ever since. While there are no reports on burn-in from FW 1302 onwards, there are ongoing issues with bend TVs (even though it has no impact on the quality), sudden edge bleeding with reset loops or vertical or horizontal lines suddenly popping up and won‘t disappear any more. While firmware 13XX is good balanced between brightness and accuracy, there are is a bug with soundbars, where the sound is delayed for several milliseconds, but this can be fixed with the internal settings. You should also consider buying a streaming device, as you probably won‘t be able to use the internal streaming apps when you don‘t update you TV‘s FW. If you do care about it, you should buy asap, disable auto-updates and block updates on router level. If you don‘t care about accuracy, there is no issue. With firmware version 14XX, Samsung drastically reduced brightness in game mode HDR+ (HGiG) if you disable Contrast Enhancer on all 2022 models, so also for Game Mode, brightness has been reduced on the accurate modes. Firmware of the currently shipped units is still 13XX, which is fine (peak brightness in accurate modes has been reduced, but it‘s still the brightest OLED, you can still get 1.500 nits in inaccurate modes though). After getting the TV on FW1302, I updated to 1304 and immediately blocked updates on router level after hearing horror stories from previous updates. I myself am an S95B owner and happy with it. One month ago, I would have recommended S95B>QN90B>C2. So, for me the QC of a tv will be my first and most important aspect when buying a new tv from now on. I would get a G2 for that extra brightness but it surpasses my budget unfortunately. Of course, no tv is perfect but I'm sure it's better than samsung trademark quality. I have heard amazing things of LG C2 quality. Also it seems that the S95b has it's own BIG problems too. Their QC went downhill across the years it seems. And the worst thing is that I haven't got a single technician to see what will happen with my expensive and new tv because they are just so incompetent.Īnd it's a shame since I still have a KS8000 49'' rocking in my living room like it's literally out of the box, new. It's so bad that is very noticeable in blue scenes + making everything looks a little bit pixelated. My QN90b has a HORRIBLE grid pattern all across the screen. Unfortunately I experienced first hand the horrible QC Samsung has been getting lately. I have a pretty much new QN90b 55'' (3 weeks of use), and I'm already planning in getting a C2 65''. I can just keep going and going… but it’s a lot to talk about. The Samsung s95b does things that will question like why did I spend this much money and even an input button is not on the remote? I think I would rather recommend the LG C2 but it’s the more mature oled. Honestly I would say that the s95b software is such a fucking headache since I got it. I don’t keep auto updating on and don’t think I plan to update the firmware anytime soon. I didn’t not update it to the firmware version where I guess VRR is acting weird. If you can figure out how to deal with the s95b issues then I would get it. The S95B is totally the first gen Samsung oled tv and it shows. Because of that I would say the LG feels like the more mature tv. Unless you have them side by side you could not 100% tell which one 100% better. It’s literally picking strawberries and blueberries with the picture quality. Let me know what your input is on this tough decision I originally had my mind set on the S95B, but the only thing holding me back is those glaring issues regarding build quality and firmware issues. Cons: Is the dimmest (big one), C3 is potentially around the corner come CES.Pros: Reliable and consistent (big one), good features for both gaming and media consumption, good PQ Cons: Build quality and QC issues (big one), firmware issues (another big one), firmware changes lowering brightness, needs the most tweaking and managing for best performance.Pros: Brightest OLED so best of both worlds, similarly priced for even though it's QD-OLED, colors has the most Pop. Cons: Firmware issues (not sure if resolved), PQ might not be as good as OLED,.Pros: Brightness, Mini-LED makes it so it's almost there with OLED darks I've been going over the pros and cons and can't decide which is best for me: Uses will be 65% Netflix and YouTube and 35% gaming. This will be in the living room so there will be moderate lighting from windows and lights. |
